WTMO’s son turns over one Asian Leaf turtle to PCSDS

One Asian Leaf turtle (𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘺𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘢) was turned over to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) by Mr. Sebastien Villagracia of Purok Maligaya, Barangay Sta. Lourdes, Puerto Princesa City on November 20, 2021.

Sebastien, son of Mr. Roel Villagracia, one of PCSDS’ Wildlife Trafficking Monitoring Officers (WTMOs), narrated that he found the turtle on the ground while he was walking around the Dungalos residential compound in Barangay Sta. Lourdes at around 10 AM on the same day.

Upon inspection, the turtle was in good shape and was later released back to its natural habitat on the same day.

The Asian Leaf turtle has a curved carapace length of 5 cm., curved carapace width of 14.5 cm. and weighs approximately 600 grams.

The Asian Leaf Turtle is listed as a “Near Threatened” species under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
