SEP IEC Caravan in Cuyo

Last August 22, 2017, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff conducted the SEP IEC Caravan in Cuyo, Palawan as part of its 25th Year Anniversary celebration of the SEP Law (RA 7611) with the theme “Kultura, Kalikasan, Kaunlaran… Kasama Ka!” through the district management office. The day-long program was conducted in the Institute of Arts and Sciences multi-purpose hall, Palawan State University Cuyo with 158 attendees from different barangays, government and non-government organizations, schools and other stake holders.

The overall objective of this said IEC Caravan is to update the people Cuyo about the policies, mandates and other environmental laws implemented by the PCSDS at the same time, it is a good avenue to deliver the basic services of the PCSDS such as the one-stop-shop, express permitting and free legal advise.

The IEC Caravan tackled the environmental laws, climate change, the role of women in development and the local government updates regarding the solid waste management. An environmental quiz bee was conducted after the discussions, participated by 5 different schools in Cuyo.

The PCSDS would like to thank the participants who were present during the event especially the local government of Cuyo through the leadership of the Honorable Mayor, Andrew L. Ong, Vice-Mayor Christopher Jake Tan, Sangguniang Bayan members, MPDC, the ECAN Board members of Cuyo and the stakeholders in Cuyo for the sponsorship of the meals throughout the program as well as the prizes for the quiz bee as part of their live fish development program.
