PCSDS Legal Services Section, in coordination with DENR-Taytay and the El Nido Foundation, delivered lectures on selected environmental laws at the paralegal training held on October 30, 2024 at Tay Lelong’s Pension house in the municipality of Taytay, Palawan.
Collen Pagaduan, legal researcher, discussed the salient features of RA 9147, otherwise known as the Wildlife Act, focusing on the prohibited acts and its corresponding penalties. She likewise discussed RA 9175, otherwise known as the Chainsaw Act, as well as its implementing rules and regulations embodied in PCSD Administrative Order No. 07.
An estimated 14 participants composed of barangay officials from El Nido having jurisdiction over watershed areas and CBFMAs are slated to be paralegals. 12 of the participants were already trained during the WEO training held last October 07, 2024 at the PSDTI. The repeat participants showed mastery of the concepts earlier discussed.
