Anchored on the theme: “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”, Ms. Gisela R. Canoza of ECAN Education and Extension Division (EEED) kicked off the PCSDS’s month-long gender equality celebration, by discussing the struggles and challenges of women in society, stereotypes on gender roles, and the socialization of power, including the Gender and Development perspectives, and the laws concerning them, among others.

Dr. Elsa P. Manarpaac, former university president of Western Philippines University Main Campus, meanwhile, expounded on the Women’s Role in Sustainable Development. She discussed the role that women play in the political, economic, and educational spheres of society.
Dr. Manarpaac also explained the factors that stunt the achievement of gender equality, and the progress and development for which women have paved the way. Moreover, she also underscored the importance of Gender and Development perspectives in PCSD’s programs and policies.
“Nakita natin how iyong role ng Information Technology could help us mainstream gender equality [in everyday lives],” Dr. Manarpaac remarked.
“Don’t be afraid of anything because we are women. Women are strong at heart; that’s our greatest strength. Let us be responsible partners in sustainable development,” she added.
