In support of the nationwide project of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA)’s “Land Cover Mapping Project”, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) is currently joining the NAMRIA Team in the conduct of the latter’s field inspection and validation activities for the update of Palawan Land Cover Map.
The Land Cover Mapping Project aims to update the geographical map of Palawan’s land cover, incorporating into it the geographical changes since the map’s last update in 2020. As such, it will indicate the classifications and demarcations of different portions and types of land areas in the province.
Providing technical and logistical support for the project, PCSDS ECAN Monitoring and Evaluation Division (EMED) and District Management Offices (Calamian, South, and North) are currently teaming up with NAMRIA representatives in their field inspection and validation undertakings being conducted in Calamian, and Southern and Northern Palawan.
Last Monday, March 13, NAMRIA representatives composed of Foresters namely; Alexander V. Saballa, Dexter Dag-uman, and Arianne E. Borlaza had an initial meeting with PCSDS to discuss the information-gathering plans and logistics for the project, which runs from March 14-18, 2023.
