he Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) expressed its support and gratitude in the celebration of and the conduct of activities during the Kilit Festival in Coron, Palawan, on November 11 and 12, respectively.

PCSDS Acting Executive Director Nino Rey Estoya in a message, as delivered by PCSDS District Management Division (DMD)-Calamian Anafrael Roxas, hailed the importance of the festival in recognizing and celebrating the Blue-headed Racquet-tail Prioniturus platenae, locally known as “Kilit”.

Through Municipal Ordinance No. 12, series of 2021, Kilit has been declared as the Coronʹs flagship species. As such, management efforts have been put in place for its protection and conservation.

“Hence, we would like to thank the LGU of Coron, other offices, and stakeholders as they embark with us through the conservation and effective management of wildlife resources, specifically the blue-headed racquet tail. The conduct of future research, advocacy campaigns, and protection of this species and its habitat are geared towards a sustainable future and the well-being of our people,” Mr. Estoya said.

“We thank all the people behind this activity, for without them this event will not be possible,” Mr. Estoya added.
