PCSDS EMED conducts Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Training

On March 22-23, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff ECAN Monitoring and Evaluation Division (EMED) conducted a Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Training at the Conference Hall of Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) – Bgy. Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan.

It was attended by representatives from Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Volunteer – Bgy. Sanitary Inspectors, members of the Bgy. Councils of the Rizal municipality, Municipal Economic and Enterprise Development Office (MEEDO), Municipal Housing Office (MHO), Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), and Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO).

The two-day training discussed water sampling protocols and parameters, water quality guidelines, and on-site water sample collection. As such, it also taught the participants the basic water quality monitoring and assessment, which included methodology familiarization, equipment identification, and use.

Conducted by the Local Government Unit of Rizal through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Rizal, the aforementioned training will also help improve the LGU of the Rizal municipality’s management of its water resources to be used as bases in crafting policies and regulations in compliance with Republic Act No. 9275, or the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004.
