
On 23-24 November 2022, PCSDS-EZMED Mr. Eugene Venturillo and Atty. Che Ann Mae Flores participated in the Roundtable Discussion (RTD) on the impact of illegal wildlife trade cases in Palawan organized by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) Philippines in collaboration with the Environmental Legal Assistance Center. Inc. (ELAC) held at Hue Hotels and Resorts, Puerto Princesa City. The face to face roundtable discussion was attended by judges, prosecutors, representatives from other government agencies, and law enforcement officers from the community members of Lake Manguao.
Mr. Venturillo presented the status of wildlife in Palawan and the wildlife enforcement efforts of PCSDS-EZMED Enforcement Section. On the other hand, Atty. Flores elaborated on the efforts of the PCSDS-Legal Services Section and further made a discussion on the newly-approved and published PCSD Evidence Procedure Policy.

With funding support from the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (UK DEFRA) the event was realized in connection with the ZSL Philippines’ project titled “Combating Palawan pangolin trafficking: empowering community-based protection and pro-active movement”.
The activity was designed to promote positive environmental behavior by cultivating champions to build awareness on legal disincentives.
