As part of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives through its ECAN Education and Extension Division (EEED), the PCSD Staff (PCSDS) in collaboration with Ugat ng Kalusugan (Roots of Health) and Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) conducted a session on “Vulnerability of Men and Women in Developing Cancer and Orientation on Family Planning and Birth Control.”
Held at the covered court of Barangay Sta. Monica on March 17, the activity was participated by barangay health workers of Barangays Sta. Monica and Tiniguiban, and aimed at empowering the local communities of the society through information-dissemination on gender-related matters such as family planning and reproductive health.
Registered Midwife (RM) Ma. Theresa C. Igne from Roots of Health discussed the Orientation on Family Planning and Birth Control. Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Hew G. Curameng, MBA, from PDOHO, discussed Breast, Cervical, and Prostate Cancers.
In an open forum after the discussions, the speakers also entertained questions from the participants.
The aforementioned session is part of the PCSDS’s support for and celebration of the National Women’s Month of the Philippines, incorporating GAD thrusts and goals in its program-proceedings for the month-long celebration.
In the event, the PCSDS was represented by EEED Public Relations and Communication Services Section Unit Head Mr. Richard P. Rebote along with Ms. Kisha Grace L. Hardiolen and Ms. Edilita B. Demonguitan.
