PCSDS attends the Basic Incident Command System Orientation

To better appreciate and understand the importance of Incident Command System (ICS), the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), along with representatives from coastal barangays of Tenga-tenga, Cabigsing, Suba, attended the two-day Basic Incident Command System Orientation held at La Primera Lodge and Restaurant in Bgy. Tenga-tenga, in Cuyo, Palawan, November 17-18.

Topics discussed were the Introduction to ICS by LTJG Edward Y Cua Jr, PCG; ICS Organization and Staffing and ICS facilities by Engr. Almina Marie L. Gange; Organizing ICS and Managing Incidents and Events by Hon. Michael S. Cervancia; Incident/Event Assessment and Management by Objectives by MPDC Jane R. Sanchez; Organizing and Managing Resources by ICO Treasurer Rosalinda Manlavi; Incident and Event Planning by CG ENS Algie B. Giner; and Transfer of Command, Demobilization, and Close out by CG by CG LTJG Edward Y Cua Jr., who are all trained for Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

As a proactive response, the ICS is instrumental in averting damages in the onset or in the aftermath of natural disasters primarily through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and its partners. The two-day orientation sought to educate and prepare the participants as partners in responding to hazards or disasters in their respective communities to minimize the risks or damages that the disasters or incidents may bring about.
