The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) has approved the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) which will formalize its information sharing services to PCSD Staff (PCSDS).
This agreement was initiated as the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) expressed interest to partner and provide PCSD/PCSDS access to its vast repository of satellite images generated by the country’s deployed small satellites in space.
In the light of the said MOA, PCSD/PCSDS can have access on the remote sensing and artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science and coastal and ocean applications used by PhilSA in its information gathering and monitoring procedures.
As counterpart, PCSDS is committed to conduct ground validation of maps derived by PhilSA and improve the quality and accuracy of these generated maps.
The partnership between the two government institutions will be useful in decision- making, policy formulation, and implementation of policies by the PCSD. Moreover, the data-sharing agreement will also be utilized in the conduct of workshops, trainings and capacity building activities with the local government units and other stakeholders.
