RESOLUTION APPROVING THE NATIONAL INTEGRATED PROTECTED AREAS PROGRAMME ANNUAL WORK PLAN (JANUARY-DECEMBER 1997) AS PRESENTED

WHEREAS, the ” National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992″ promulgated by Republic Act No. 7586 and was signed into law on June 1, 1992;

WHEREAS, embodied in R.A. No. 7586 is a declaration is a declaration of the policy of the state to secure for the Filipino people of present and future generations the perpetual existence of all native plants and animals through the establishement of a comprehensive system of integrated protected areas within the classification of national park as provided for in the Constitutions;

WHEREAS, Specific for Palawan, Republic Act No. 7611, known and referred to as the “Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan Act” was enacted in June 19, 1992;

WHEREAS, R.A. 7611, consistent with the policy of the state to protect, develop and conserve its natural resources and toward this end, it shall assist and support6 the imlementation of plans, programs and projects formulated to preserve and enhance;

WHEREAS, On the 47th PCSD Meeting held on January 24, 1887, Mr. Willem F. Rodenburg, Co-Director of the National Integrated Protected Areas Programme (NIPAP) presented its Annual Work Plan (January_December 1997 to the Council, a copy is made part of this resolution as Annex 1;

WHEREAS, the Council, upon its deliberation and review of the NIPAR Annual Work Plan, assigned Atty. Joselito, together with the PCSDS, DENR and NIPA Staff to study a coordinated implementation of the NIPAP and recommend to the Council its output;

WHEREAS, the Council interposes no objection to the general provisions of the NIPAP Annual Work Plan 1997 and hereby grant approval for its implementation;

NOW THEREFORE, upon the unanimous motion of the Council members present, and duly seconded, the Council;

RESOLVED, as it is hereby RESOLVED, that the NIPAP Annual Work Plan be approved as presented provided that recommendations of the Council on coordinated and unified implementation with other agencies and institutions be considered;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that Atty. Joselito Alisuag together with the PCSDS, DENR, and NIPAP Staff is to conduct a study on coordinated implementation of the NIPAP Annual Work Plan and to recommend to the Council its findings;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the DENR, the NIPAP Co-Director, concerned LGU’s, NGOs and other agencies;
