PCSD RESOLUTION NO. 95-74
RESOLUTION REITERATING THE DESIGNATION OF NEDA DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL ANICETO M. SOBREPENA TO REPRESENT THE PALAWAN COUNCIL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (PCSD) ON MATTERS CONCERNING THE BRUNEI-INDONESIA-MALAYSIA-PHILIPPINES EAST GROWTH AREA (BIMP-EAGA).
WHEREAS, R.A 7611, otherwise known as the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan, took effect on 19 June 1992 the framework to guide the government agencies concerned in the formulation of plans, programs and project affecting the environment and natural resources of Palawan;
WHEREAS, Section 16 of R.A 7611 provides that the governance, implementation and policy direction of the SEP shall be exercised by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), under the Office of the President;
WHEREAS, in response to a request by the Council, Palawan is now included as the 13th focus area in the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA);
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes its role to be actively involve in the BIMP_EAGA initiative and that it would entail closer coordination with other concerned agencies and institutions in the country especially in the Mindanao Island;
WHEREAS, the PCSD in its 28th Council meeting held on 18 26 July 1994, through PCSD Resolution No. 94-52, has adopted among others, that the Councils Committee on external affairs, chaired by NEDA Deputy Director General Aniceto M. Sobrepena, is of the PCSD on matters pertaining to the development of the East Asean Growth Area;
NOW THEREFORE, upon motion by Cong. Alfredo E. Abueg Jr. duly seconded by all the members of the Council present, the Council present, the Council;
RESOLVED, as it hereby resolved, that the Council designates as it hereby designate, NEDA Deputy Director General and PCSD Member Aniceto M. Sobrepena to present the PCSD on matters concerning the BIMP-EAGA.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the council direct, as it hereby directs, NEDA DDG SOBREPENA to periodically update the council on the status of the BIMP-EAGA especially on matters requiring immediate action by the PCSD.
RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be sent to Presidential Assistant Paul Dominguez, Department of Trade and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Transportation and Development Authority, other concerned agencies, and local government units, for their information, consideration and appropriate action;
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of January, 1995 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
