RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NATIONAL POWER CORPORATION OT EXPEDITE THE IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT OF THE MATERIALS OF THE PALAWAN BACKBONE TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT FROM LUZON TO PALAWAN.

WHEREAS,the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development (PCSD) in pursuance of its functions stipulated by R.A. 7611 known as the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) Act, in a resolution (No. 93-29), approved last 09 July 1993, endorsed the Palawan Backbone Transmission Line Project for implementation by the National Power Corporation;

WHEREAS,the Council is pleased to note that the abovecited project is already going-on in full swing;

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Council that the materials for the abovecited Project are temporarily stored in Luzon reportedly because of the unavailability of an area in Palawan where these materials could be stockpiled.

WHEREAS the early completion of the abovecited Project is eagerly awaited by the people of Palawan.

WHEREAS it is to the best interest of the province of Palawan as well as its people if all concerned agencies exert will its effort toward the early completion of the abovecited Project;

WHEREAS the Local Government Units of Palawan are willing to assist the National Power Corporation in locating a suitable area for the stockpiling of the Project’s materials;

NOW THEREFORE, by unanimous motion of the members present, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development hereby resolves to request the National Power Corporation to expedite the immediate shipment of the materials of the Palawan Backbone Transmission Line as early as possible from Luzon to Palawan;

RESOLVED FURTHER that copies of this resolution be sent to National Power Corporation, the Office of the President, the Local Government Units in Palawan and other concerned agencies for their consideration and appropriate action.
