RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE GUIDELINES ON TOURISM-ORIENTED ESTBLISHMENTS IN THE PROVINCE OF PALAWAN.

WHEREAS, R.A. 7611 otherwise known as the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan Act, took on June 15, 1992 and Section of the said Act province that the governance, implementation and policy direction of the SEP shall be exercised by the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development (PCSD);

WHEREAS, the same Section requires that all local governments in Palawan and the concerned national and regional government agencies operating therein shall coordinate and align their projects and corresponding budgets with the projects, programs and aforementioned administrative Machinery, the PCSD;

WHEREAS, section 12 of the same Act provides for the management of resources outside the Environmental Critical Areas Network (ECAN) and shall include coastal resources, resources of the catchment areas, timber and mines, development in the lowlands and settlement areas, It shall also provide for tourism planning;

WHEREAS, there is a need to guide the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the exercise of the devolved regulatory functions from the Department of Tourism as mandated in the Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the PCSD in its 13th Council meeting held on 25 May 1993, has reviewed and evaluated the Guidelines for Tourism-Oriented establishment in the Province of Palawan as prepared by its Tourism Committee, a copy is hereto attached;

NOW THEREFORE, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development resolves that after having evaluated the Guidelines for Tourism Oriented Establishment in the Province of Palawan, the Council hereby adopt the said Guidelines to guide the LGU’s in formulating their respective ordinaries governing the tourism oriented establishments within their respective jurisdiction Provided it may deem necessary and inform the Council of the amendments through its Tourism Committee.;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Secretariat of the Council, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) disseminate the said Guidelines to concerned LGU’s in coordination with the Tourism committee of the PCSD.
