RESOLUTION SETTING A CONFERENCE WITH THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES, HON. ANGEL C. ALCALA, TO DISCUSS THE RELATIONSHIP OF HIS DEPARTMENT AND THE PALAWAN COUNCIL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS, by virtue of Section 16 of R.A 7611, otherwise known as the Strategic Environmental Plan. (SEP) for Palawan Act, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development (PCSD) was duly constituted to exercises the governance, implementation and policy direction of the SEP;

WHEREAS, in carrying out its powers and functions as embodied in Section 19 of this Act, the PCSD recognizes the related powers and functions of other entities involved in the protection, development and conservation of Palawan’s natural resources;

WHEREAS, the DENR is the government agency which has jurisdiction over and is responsible for the management of the country’s natural resources;

NOW THEREFORE, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development hereby resolves to set a conference with the Honorable Secretary Angel C. Alcala of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to discuss the relationship of DENR and the PCSD specifically with regard to the commercial log ban issue and the operation of the Calauit Wildlife Sanctuary;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Honorable Secretary be invited to meet with the PCSD on its next regular session to be held on 5 April 1993 9:30 a.m. at the Batasan Pambansa Complex, Batasan Road, Quezon City.
