PCSD RESOLUTION NO. 93-13
RESOLUTION ENJOINING THE TIMBER LICENSE AGREEMENT HOLDERS TO ALLOCATE AT LEAST TEN PERCENT OF THEIR TOTAL TIMBER PRODUCTION FOR LOCAL CONSUMPTION AND MAKE THE SAME AVAILABLE IN PALAWAN.
WHEREAS, the Palawan Council For Sustainable Development has passed Resolution No. 92-11 which calls for a limited operation for a period of three years by the TLA holder in Palawan in the areas which had been agreed upon by the PCSD with the representatives of DENR and the TLA holders subject to close monitoring of the TLA operations and for other purposes;
WHEREAS, the existing TLA’s in Palawan, namely: Pagdanan Timber Products, Inc.; Nationwide Princesa Timber Corporation; and the Palawan Lumber manufacturing Company were granted an aggregate annual allowable cut of ___________ cu.m. for 1993;
WHEREAS, the constituents of the province of Palawan have expressed difficulty in obtaining lumber for housing purposes among other domestic requirements due primarily to limited supply in the local market;
WHEREAS, in line with the Strategic Environmental Plan’s general philosophy of sustainable development and its pursuit for the improvement of the quality of life of the people of the Palawan, the development efforts in the province should be geared towards the upliftment of the socio-economic well-being of the populace;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as it is resolved that the Council weeks the commitment of the TLA holders to allocate at least ten (100 percent of their total production for local consumption and to make the same available in the local market;
RESOLVED FURTHER that the Council shall seek the assistance and intercession of the DENR for the immediate implementation of this request.
