Palawan owes its uniqueness to its biological and natural capital. The people are living in a pristine environment, which has been our treasure. However, in this dynamic and challenging world, where our dependence on environmental goods and services as well as our consumption patterns demand too much from nature, leading to a wider and faster change of the ecological and socio-economic landscape.
Palawan has been a living laboratory, inviting researchers from different fields of expertise and undertakings. The PCSD believes that these studies should be gathered and brought together for everyone to know. On June 19, 2015, the PCSD launched its first scientific journal, the “Our Palawan”, which will gather and make the results of these researches available to all.
“Our Palawan” journal is envisioned to become a flagship publication that features not only full and brief research reports, but also opinion articles, conference papers, notes and letters to editors that would serve as guide to the planners, policy makers, and the general public in Palawan.
The “Our Palawan” is an open access journal. It is freely available for researchers, students, and other readers from private and government sectors who are interested in the management, protection, conservation and sustainable development of the province of Palawan. It will be accessible online through the PCSD and the Palawan Knowledge Platform websites. The readers and the general public will be able to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of published articles.
Printed copies, although in limited number, is available at our PCSD Library and Knowledge Centre. Copies are also distributed to some of our partner agencies, organizations, and the academic or higher education institutions.
“Our Palawan” Journal features articles subjected to peer review process. We tapped experts in their own fields from local and international academic institutions as our external reviewers to help us ensure that the information and researches we feature pass a certain level of quality. We will continue to do the same in the succeeding issues of “Our Palawan” Journal.
As we have now registered this journal with the National Library, “Our Palawan” Journal shall publish 2 issues every year. And so therefore we invite all the researchers from other government agencies, private organizations and academe to share their research endeavors in the province of Palawan through this medium.
