One Southeast Asian Box Turtle Turned Over to PCSDS

One Southeast Asian Box Turtle (𝘊𝘶𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) was turned over by Mr. Romeo A. Tan of Moreno Subdivision, Poblacion, District 2, Brooke’s Point, Palawan to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Office-Brooke’s Point on January 29, 2021.

Mr. Tan voluntarily turned over the said turtle, which has a curved carapace length of 16 cm, curved carapace width of 12 cm and weighed 0.5 kg.

The said turn over came after the report received by the PCSDS Wildlife Trafficking Monitoring Officers (WTMO) in the said municipality from the PCSDS District Management Office of Brooke’s Point informing them about Mr. Tan’s intent to turn over the said turtle on that day. The WTMOs went to Mr. Tan’s location around 11:00 AM on that day to retrieve the turtle from him.

The Southeast Asian Box turtle is listed as an “Endangered species” under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521.
