One dead Saltwater Crocodile recovered in Barangay Poblacion V, Balabac, Palawan

One dead Saltwater Crocodile (𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘀𝘰π˜₯𝘺𝘭𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴) was retrieved by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) through the assistance of DENR-Balabac, MENRO, and Philippine Navy- Balabac in Barangay Poblacion V, Balabac on May 25, 2021.

Said crocodile, listed as “Critically Endangered species” under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521, was discovered by a fisherman while it was entangled in a fishing net of an abandoned Chinese fishing vessel in the aforementioned area. It is presumed that its death is caused by drowning.

The 10.4-feet-long crocodile was buried in an undisclosed location in Balabac, Palawan through the combined efforts of PCSD staff, DENR, MENRO, Philippine Navy, and some fishermen in the area, on the same day at around 10:00 AM.
