One Crested Goshawk Turned Over to PCSDS

One Crested Goshawk (𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴) was retrieved on March 23, 2021 by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division -Roxas after it was rescued by Mr. Johnlyn Ulzoron of Barangay Retac, Roxas, Palawan.

Mr. Ulzoron narrated that he heard a noise on the rooftop of his house on the afternoon of March 22, 2021. Out of curiosity, he checked the said area to find out what was going on there. To his surprise, he found the Crested Goshawk perching on the roof. He captured it to check if it was injured or not. Seeing that the bird was in good shape, he opted to post a picture of it on Facebook to know its specific kind. Concerned with the bird’s well-being, a netizen told him to turn over the bird to DENR.

Following the netizen’s advice, he went to the DENR office to turn over the bird on March 23, 2021. At the DENR office, he was instructed to turn over the bird to the PCSDS District Management Division-Roxas instead. With Mr. Brando Badenas of DENR-CENRO Roxas, he went to PCSDS District Management Division-Roxas to turn over the said bird.
The Crested Goshawk was brought to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) on March 26, 2021 for its rehabilitation.

The Crested Goshawk is listed as “Endangered species” under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521.
