RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND CONDOLENCES OF PCSD AND STAFF TO THE MITRA FAMILY FOR THE DEMISE OF THE FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTA TIVES AND CO-AUTHOR OF SEP LAW, RAMON V. MITRA, JR.
WHEREAS, mortal life of a legendary leader has come to an end but the memoirs of his heroic deeds and indefatigable exploits will forever remain in the hearts of every Palaweno and among his countless compatriots because of his phenomenal ascent to various public offices, breaking the proverbial pot of poverty and defying all odds, in order to carve his own niche towards national prominence as the unparalleled Palawan leader who served the country;
WHEREAS, the sterling performance and accomplishments during his tenure as public servant in all the branches of government had remarkably leave an indelible space in our historical landscape drawing a more concrete example for the poor and young potential leaders to emulate as he echoed while still alive: “If Mitra have done it you could as well do it”;
WHEREAS, “Monching”, as fondly called by his allies and friends, is epitomized by the magnanimity he exudes as a charismatic leader whom one can trust, depend and be proud of, for his stature and prominence as a national figure is still unmatched by any other Palaweno;
WHEREAS, one of the cornerstones of the former Speaker’s legacies was his contributions to the protection and preservation of the pristine and fragile condition of Palawan’s environment through sustainable development of which he manifestly mustered his power and influence as a legislator for the Philippine Congress to adopt Republic Act No 7611 otherwise known as the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan Act, a legislative measure that will go a long way for the benefit of the present and future generations of Palawan;
WHEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, the Council resolves, as it is hereby resolved that the PCSD and Staff express its profound condolences to the M1TRA Family for the demise of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and co-author of the SEP for Palawan Act, Ramon V. Mitra, Jr.
RESOLVED FINALLY, that copy of this resolution be furnished the Mitra Family for their information.
