PCSD RESOLUTION NO. 97-113
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE DENR, PNP, EIIB, WESCOM AND ITS OPERATING UNITS, PNP, BANTAY PALAWAN AND ALL OTHER CONCERNED AGENCIES TO SUBMIT AN INVENTORY OF CONFISCATED LOGS/LUMBER AND OTHER FOREST PRODUCTS IN THEIR POSSESSION TO THE PALAWAN COUNCIL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ON A REGULAR BASIS FOR PROPER DISPOSITION
WHEREAS, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development by virtue of Republic Act 7611 is mandated to exercise the governance, implementation and policy direction of the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP);
WHEREAS, the promotion and encouragement of the involment of all sectors of society and maximise people participation (including tribal groups) in natural resources management, conservation and protection is one of the inherent functions of the PCSD;
WHEREAS, to enforce the provisions of the SEP, the Council is empowered to call on any department, bureau, office, agency or instrumentality of the Government, and on private entities and organizations for cooperation and assistance in the performance of its functions;
WHEREAS, the whole of Palawan particularly the implementation of government’s infrasture projects is now facing a problem of lumber supply due to the imposition of commercial log ban DENR’s pending approval for the proposed estabalishment of communal forests by the different municipalities,
NOW, THEREFORE, upon unanimously decision of the Council;
RESOLVED, as it is HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council direct the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Philippine National Police (PNP), Economic Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (EIIB), BANTAY PALAWAN, Western Command (WESCOM) and its operating units and all other concerned agencies to submit an inventory of confiscated logs/lumber in their possession on a regular basis;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that said confiscated to logs/lumber be subject to expeditious disposition giving priority use in the implementation to Government’s infrastructure projects.
RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the concerned local government units and to the aforementioned agencies for information and compliance.
