The Information Education and Communication Task Group (IECTG) of the Area Task Force – West (ATF – WEST) intends to further promote the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG), as well as its significance to Palaweños, through current popular social media platforms.

In connection with this, the Task Group held a meeting on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, to discuss potential activities that may engage young people to participate. Among the activities considered were the Tiktok Challenge and the Digital Art Competition with the theme “Kabataan para sa Kalayaan.” The goal of these activities is to raise awareness about the relevance of WPS to Palaweños.

These initiatives, according to ATF West IECTG Chairperson John Vincent Fabello, aim to involve the younger generation in activities connected to KIG and WPS. He believes that through the use of modern technologies, the youth may make a significant contribution to proper knowledge sharing.

“Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan. Sila ay kinukonsidera as third-party communicator. Mahalaga na malaman nila ang importansya ng West Philippine Sea sa soberehenya at national interest ng ating bansa”, said Chairperson Fabello.
Meanwhile, such activities are set to be finalized in the Steering Committee meeting on Monday, July 4, 2022.
