Conference on Palawan’s Victoria-Anepahan Mountain Range set on April 22

A conference that will tackle the ecological and socio-economic value of and effective management framework for Victoria-Anepahan Mountain Range (VAMR) will be conducted on April 22 at the Western Philippines University (WPU) in Aborlan town.

The conference aims to: (1) present the status of VAMR and draw feedback from stakeholders; (2) identify key threats and possible interventions; and (3) explore possible management or governance framework for VAMR.

Discussions will be jointly facilitated by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff and its partner civil society organizations and institution, such as the Environmental Legal Assistance Center Inc., Palawan NGO Network Inc., Institute for the Development of Educational and Ecological Alternatives (IDEAS), Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme-Philippines (NTFP-EP Phils) and WPU.

A photo exhibit showcasing the richness of biodiversity in VAMR will also be set up during the April 22 conference.

Participants to the conference will be coming from concerned offices under the local government units of Narra, Aborlan, Quezon and Puerto Princesa City, and also the barangay officials, indigenous people and farmers residing in the said towns and city.
