One Southeast Asian Box Turtle (๐˜Š๐˜ถ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ข ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด) and one Blue-naped Parrot (๐˜›๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜บ๐˜จ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด) were turned over by Mr. Arc Gabrinao and Ms. Annabel Tabang, both residents of Barangay Maunlad, Puerto Princesa City, to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) on April 7 and April 11, 2022, respectively.

The Southeast Asian Box turtle was found by Mr. Gabrinao in his backyard on April 5, 2022, at around 9 AM. He stated that he handed over the wildlife species to protect it from people who might harm it. He noted that this was his first time handing over such wildlife species to the PCSDS.

The Blue-naped Parrot was initially found by a certain Ms. Dulce Gidgette Aguilos, a resident of Bgy. Maunlad, Puerto Princesa City, while it was under the possession of certain children in their area a week ago. She then bought the bird from them to ensure the safety of the wildlife species. Unable to turn over the wildlife species to the PCSDS office for some reason, she requested the assistance of Ms. Tabang, her cousin, in handing over the wildlife species to the PCSDS.

The Southeast Asian Box Turtle is listed as an โ€œEndangered Speciesโ€ and the Blue-naped Parrot is listed as โ€œCritically Endangered Speciesโ€ under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521.

The PCSDS is urging persons who happen to find or rescue wildlife to turn them over to our office, which can be contacted thru hotline numbers 0935-116-2336 (Globe/TM) and 0948-937-2200 (Smart/TNT). You may also send a message to our Facebook page with your concerns.
