The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) Executive Director Atty. Teodoro Jose S. Matta joined National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., Mr. Allan B. Arinos, Kalayaan Acting Municipal Administrator, VADM Alberto B. Carlos, Commander of Western Command, and Penson and Company, Inc. for the Groundbreaking of the Fuel Depot Project in Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) on April 25, 2022.
This event marked the beginning of Penson and Company, Inc.’s project to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain a Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant (POL) supply, storage, and distribution facility on Pag-asa Island, through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) undertaking with the Municipality of Kalayaan Local Government Unit (LGU).
The project aims to address the limited supply of fuel in the Kalayaan Island Group, supplementing the fuel requirement of both the armed forces and the municipal and commercial fishers in the area that will eventually boost economic activities by increasing Filipino vessel traffic in these remote islands.
