One Southeast Asian Box Turtle (𝘊𝘶𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) was retrieved by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), after it was turned over by Ms. Mercy Liza Dacuan of Bgy. Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City on June 9, 2021.
Said turtle, listed as “Endangered Species” under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521, was found by Ms. Dacuan’s family in the vicinity of their house on June 8, 2021. Knowing how important it is to conserve such endangered species, Ms. Dacuan reported the incident to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC). The PWRCC then coordinated with the PCSD Staff for the retrieval of the turtle, which took place on June 9, 2021.
The Southeast Asian Box turtle has a curved carapace length of 19.3 cms., curved carapace width of 18.4 cms. and weighs 500 grams.
