On March 4, 2026, Legal Services staff and the PCSDS Wildlife Enforcement Chief served as resource persons during the Village Level Law Enforcement Training held at the Livelihood Center, MENRO Compound in Barangay Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan, organized by ELAC. The training was attended mainly by members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community, local leaders, and community volunteers.
The activity aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the Wildlife Act, Chainsaw Act, and related environmental laws to strengthen their role in conservation efforts, including supporting the apprehension, investigation, and reporting of environmental violations. Discussions focused on prohibited acts involving illegal wildlife collection, hunting, possession, transport, and the improper use of chainsaws for forest cutting.
The session was conducted in a participatory manner, allowing participants to share experiences and observations about wildlife and forest activities in their community. IP participants highlighted their traditional respect for nature and the importance of community vigilance against environmental violations.
The training emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility, similar to the idea that a community helps raise a child. In the same way, communities must work together to protect forests and wildlife for future generations.
