PCSD Staff joined the ReINVEST WPS Program Workshop entitled “Laying the Foundation for Natural Capital Accounting for the West Philippine Sea” at the New Marine Science Institute Building, UP Diliman, Quezon City. The event brought together stakeholders to further understand and deepen the appreciation of NCA in the context of the WPS while also supporting the Philippine Environment and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Law.

The workshop was also intended to present the three-year project’s final outputs, validate results, and gather feedback from the participants. Two breakout sessions were provided—one focusing on project review for legal practitioners and its policy implications, and the second on national and local implementation of NCA under the PENCAS Law.

The ReINVEST WPS Project was a DOST-PCAARRD-funded activity composed of three components, wherein Component 2 focused on NCA and ecosystem services valuation.
