On the night of February 27, 2021, the PCSDS enforcement group received a report that 13 sea turtles were trapped inside a fish corral located nearby Matahum beach resort in Brgy. Mangingisda, Puerto Princesa City.

The composite team immediately responded to the reported incident to rescue the 13 Sea Turtles that were trapped inside the said fish corral. Selected divers from the said team cut the net of the fish corral, which measures approximately 15 meters deep, from top to bottom, to create a large opening. The divers swam around the bottom of the corral and managed to set free the sea turtles through the gap made in the net of the fish corral.

Upon examination, the team was able to identify and categorize the sea turtles by size and age. It was found out that the rescued sea turtles consist of one Hawksbill turtle, four juvenile Green Sea turtles, four sub-adult Green Sea turtles and four adult Green Sea turtles. The team also noticed that several of the adult Green sea turtles suffered stress due to starvation after being trapped there for days.

The Green Sea Turtles and Hawksbill Turtle are listed as โ€œCritically Endangeredโ€ species under PCSD Resolution No. 15-521.
