On March 11, 2024, at approximately 9:40 am local time, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) Wildlife Enforcement Office and Peace and Order Program of the Provincial Government received one juvenile Palawan Hill Mynah from Mrs. Nida Silverio, the owner of a store located on Pajara Rd., Brgy. Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa City.
Silverio voluntarily surrendered the bird after being informed that its possession without necessary documents violated R.A. 9147, the Wildlife Protection and Conservation Act. As she lacked the required permits, she cooperated with authorities and handed over the bird. A receipt acknowledging the surrender was provided to Silverio.
It is noteworthy that the Palawan Hill Mynah is classified as a โCritically Endangered Speciesโ under PCSD Resolution 23-967, highlighting the importance of wildlife preservation.
