For the first time on May 22-23, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) through its ECAN Education and Extension Division (EEED) in collaboration with District Management Division (DMD)- Calamian organized a a two-day Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) event in Cuyo and Magsaysay, Palawan.

The IEC activities took place simultaneously in Barangay Danawan, Magsaysay on May 22, and in Barangay Lagaoriao, Cuyo on May 23. The PCSDS EEED, represented by Mr. Richard Rebote, Ms. Gisela Cañoza, and Ms. Edilita Demonguitan, conducted discussions on PCSD-related laws and policies to selected Purok presidents, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation members, and barangay and municipal council members along with their staff.

Topics covered during the discussion were the Republic Act 7611, also known as the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan Act; Republic Act 9147 or “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act,”; Republic Act 9175, or the “Chain Saw Act of 2002”; Climate Change Act of 2009; and Orientation on Gender and Development (GAD).

To improve PCSD’s training, education and extension services, the PCSDS EEED also distributed Training Needs Assessment (TNA) questionnaires to the participants. This step aimed to identify the specific needs and developmental requirements of the participants in relation to sustainable development.
