𝐏𝐂𝐒𝐃𝐒 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐎𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐈𝐒 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧

𝟏𝟕 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑-In a meeting at the Provincial Capitol, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff led by its Executive Director Atty. Teodoro Jose S. Matta convened with the delegation from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Philippines headed by its Country Director, Kim Eunsob, to formally present the Environment and Natural Resources Information System (ENRIS) project for Palawan towards Food Security and Water Quality Improvement to PCSD Chair Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates.

Country Director Eunsob, announced that the Korean government has already approved the amount of USD 10,000,000.00 as KOICA’s assistance for the realization of the ENRIS project. PCSD Chair Governor Socrates expressed his gratitude to KOICA for funding the project and assured that the provincial government of Palawan commits its full support to pursue the implementation of the same.

The project, which will span for 36 months (from 2025-2027) aims to build a web-based ENRIS in the province based on the advanced scientific decision support that will aid in the efficient utilization of lands, conservation of the ecosystem, improving the provisions of ecosystem services, water and food security, and climate change adaptability in accordance with the ECAN framework of the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). Through the project, the province will obtain systematic data and information on the land resources, rational land-use planning and development, land productivity, natural resources management, and development of regulatory policies that can be used or accessed by different agencies.

The ENRIS target catchment sites include the municipalities of Aborlan, Narra, Brooke’s Point, Quezon, Rizal, Roxas, Taytay, and El Nido.
