According to the account of the individual identified as Dalisay Mady Esperanza, the egg was found in Calusa Island, Cagayancillo, Palawan last 07 July 2023. Since they have insufficient knowledge on how to take care of the egg, her mother made a suggestion for its immediate turn-over to the proper authorities. An acquaintance from PCSDS advised that it be surrendered to the PCSDS at the soonest time possible.

Currently, the Philippine Megapode is under the custody of the PCSDS.

The Philippine Megapode is listed as an โ€œEndangeredโ€ species under PCSD Resolution 15-521.
