On May 29, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)-North participated in a consultative meeting on the initial draft of Memorandum Circular No. 2023-012, or the Guidelines in the Enactment and/or updating of the Municipal Fisheries Ordinance (MFO) of Coastal Local Government Unit of Araceli, Palawan.

Held at the municipalityโ€™s Sangguniang Barangay (SB) Committee Room, the meeting was held to deliberate on the proposed draft seeking to update the MFO of Araceli, with recommendatory provisions on allowable maritime activities to its fisher folks; penalties and sanctions for maritime violations; and adoption of new inputs to enhance the previous ordinance’s substance and merits.

Aside from PCSDS, it was also attended by members and representatives from Sangguniang Bayan (SB); Municipal Agriculture; Municipal Licensing Office; Bantay Dagat, Municipal Environment & Natural Resources Office (MENRO); Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office (MTCAO); and Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (MFARMC).

Further deliberation on the matter will take place after the Baragatan Festival 2023 in June.
