On May 22-24, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), represented by Ma. Christina D. Rodriguez, District Management Division (DMD)-Calamian Manager, actively participated in a series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities and Community Assisted Project (CAP) Monitoring in three municipalities within the Calamian Island Group. This effort was undertaken as a member of the Galoc Field and Area Development (GFAD) Project Inter-Agency Monitoring Team (IAMT).

These IEC activities organized by PCSDS-Calamian were geared towards greater awareness and appreciation of PCSD-related laws and policies among the municipal and barangay officials of Busuanga on May 22, Culion on May 23, and Linapacan on May 24. These activities sought to ensure compliance and adherence of the CAP GFAD Projects with SEP Law requirements and other environmental policies and regulations to promote sustainable development in Palawan.

Aside from PCSDS, GFAD IAMT members from the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environment Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and NGP, also shared their respective programs of IEC activities on top of the CAP Monitoring.

The ongoing CAP GFAD Projects in Calamian Islands Group encompass various initiatives, such as the implementation of a water system and the construction of the Western Philippines University (WPU) Human Resource Management Laboratory Building in Busuanga, the provision of School Buses in Culion, and the establishment of a Municipal Tourism Office Building in Linapacan.

The GFAD IAMT represents a collaborative effort between private and public sectors, working together to implement environmental measures that benefit both the local communities and the ecosystem in which the GFAD Projects operate and function.
