The rescue operation was initiated following a report from a concerned citizen on the same day, highlighting the presence of the distressed macaques in the area. Responding promptly to the call, the PCSD DMD Calamian swiftly coordinated efforts to ensure the safe retrieval of the animals.

The rescued macaques are currently under the care of PCSD DMD Calamian Staff and will be subsequently turned over to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) for rehabilitation.

The Philippine Long-Tailed Macaque is listed as an โ€œEndangered Speciesโ€ under the PCSD Resolution No. 23-967 (unpublished).
