𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗴𝘆. 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗴𝘆. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗻, 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲’𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁, 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻

13 sacks of dried Seahorses, 51 sacks of dried Shark fins, and more or less 100 pieces of Humphead Wrasse or locally known as “Mameng” were seized through a joint operation of the PCSDS Enforcement Team, Philippine National Police (PNP)-Brooke’s Point, 24th Marine Company Brigade (MBLT4), and NAVSOU46 in Bgy. Oring-Oring, and Bgy. Calasaguen, Brooke’s Point, Palawan on April 23, 2022.

The confiscated sacks of 13 dried Seahorses and 40 dried Shark fins were recovered from certain Mr. Reymark Villanueva, Mr. Ryan Jacolbe, and Mr. Ronel Gargoles, residents of Bgy. Culasian, Dumaran, Bgy. Candawaga, Rizal, Palawan and Bgy. Irawan, Puerto Princesa City, at around 1:09 AM in Bgy. Oring-Oring, Brooke’s Point. They were found in possession of the said seized dried wildlife species parts without any permit for such collection and possession.

Meanwhile, 11 dried shark fins and more or less 100 pieces of Mameng were confiscated from certain Mr. Carlito Taquilid and Mr. Edward Torrecampo, both residents of Dumaran, Palawan, at around 9:11 AM in Bgy. Calasaguen, Brooke’s Point, on the same day.

Criminal charges will be filed against the said individuals for violating Section 27(f) of RA No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act for unauthorized collection, possession of wildlife, its by-products, and derivatives.
