Irish Villamor, attended the โFuture Forum 2023โ on October 17-18 where topics about diaspora engagement and partnership were highlighted and discussed.
Organized by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD)-European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF), the event drew the participation of diverse diaspora development ecosystem: diaspora organizations, partner countries, non-government actors, the European Union (EU) and its Member-States, to spark inclusive and dynamic practice-focused discussions; discuss the current and future policies and initiatives related to diaspora engagement; offer meaningful networking opportunities and partnerships; and showcase the potential of youth diaspora.
Part of the lightning talks was about the diaspora engagement activities and diaspora partnership success stories in the Philippines, particularly in Palawan. It may be recalled that in 2022, EUDiF and diaspora experts extended assistance to PCSDS, PSU, and LGUs in the areas of education and climate finance. Such assistance aimed to leverage diaspora expertise to advance the agenda for sustainable development in Palawan by equipping local stakeholders with the tools and skills to enhance their knowledge on solutions for environmental sustainability and climate adaptation.
Since 2019, the ICMPD has been implementing the European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF). This offers a unique global platform of knowledge exchange and operational support to promote diaspora collaboration for development. #PCSDNews#pcsdupdates
