𝗣𝗖𝗦𝗗𝗦 𝗘𝗭𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥, 𝐏𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲; 𝐎𝐤𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝟑-𝟓- To finalize the management plan of Lawak Island as a declared Critical Habitat in Palawan, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff, through its ECAN Zones Management Division (EZMED), spearheaded the Lawak Island Critical Habitat Management Planning Workshop.

Funded by the United States Agency for International Development- Sustainable Interventions for Biodiversity, Oceans, and Landscapes (USAID-SIBOL), the event was participated by the Local Government Unit of Kalayaan, Western Command, Western Philippines University, Provincial Tourism Office, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, among others.

This event was the offshoot of the Consultative-workshop held last May 22-23 on ‘Critical Habitat Establishment in the West Philippines Sea (WPS)’ at the Palawan Sustainable Development Training Institute (PSDTI) in Bgy. Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.

Through PCSD Resolution No. 22-827, Lawak Island has been declared as a Critical Habitat by PCSD in September 2022, which calls for wider conservation and protection towards it. It will be also guided by PCSD Resolution No. 13-481, which provides for the establishment and management of critical habitats in the province.
