๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ญ๐๐ฅ, ๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฌ๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ; ๐๐ค๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ ๐-๐- To finalize the management plan of Lawak Island as a declared Critical Habitat in Palawan, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff, through its ECAN Zones Management Division (EZMED), spearheaded the Lawak Island Critical Habitat Management Planning Workshop.
Funded by the United States Agency for International Development- Sustainable Interventions for Biodiversity, Oceans, and Landscapes (USAID-SIBOL), the event was participated by the Local Government Unit of Kalayaan, Western Command, Western Philippines University, Provincial Tourism Office, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, among others.
This event was the offshoot of the Consultative-workshop held last May 22-23 on โCritical Habitat Establishment in the West Philippines Sea (WPS)โ at the Palawan Sustainable Development Training Institute (PSDTI) in Bgy. Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.
Through PCSD Resolution No. 22-827, Lawak Island has been declared as a Critical Habitat by PCSD in September 2022, which calls for wider conservation and protection towards it. It will be also guided by PCSD Resolution No. 13-481, which provides for the establishment and management of critical habitats in the province.
