On July 4, three (3) chainsaw units were turned over to Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)-South by the staff of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)- City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
The chainsaw units, which were turned over at the DMD-South Office in Quezon, Palawan, were seized by the DENR-CENRO Staff through its enforcement operations in Southern Palawan from certain individuals who were caught red-handed engaging in chainsaw operations without securing the requisite operation permits, violating the Republic Act No. 9175 or the Chainsaw Act of 2002.
The chainsaw turnover subsequently jumpstarts the filing of the administrative charges against the law violators through the PCSDS Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), in accordance with the Chainsaw Act of 2002. PCSD is a primary enforcer of the same law in the province of Palawan, in collaboration with DENR and other environmental enforcement agencies therein as mandated by law.
