𝟏𝟗 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒- A Southeast Asian Box Turtle (𝑪𝒖𝒐𝒓𝒂 𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒔) was turned over to the custody of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) by spouses Mr. Jesus V. Macaraeg and Mrs. Delma G. Macaraeg from Barangay Milagrosa, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Mr. Macaraeg found the turtle within the premises of their backyard while their pet dog was playing with it. The spouses and their children have fondly called the turtle “Toto”. Worrying for the turtle’s safety, they decided to surrender the turtle to PCSDS for appropriate action and proper disposition of the animal.

The identified turtle is an adult male and measures 21 cm (carapace length), 19 cm (carapace width). It is scheduled to be released back into its natural habitat.

The PCSDS encourages fellow citizens who happen to encounter any live wildlife to leave them alone in their natural habitat. However, if said animal is under or poses immediate risk, only then could they be turned over to our office or seek assistance by calling our hotlines: PCSDS Wildlife Enforcement Unit (WEU) at 09319642128 (TNT) and 09656620248 (TM), or the PCSDS Front Desk hotline at 0935-116-2336 (Globe/TM) and 0948-937-2200 (Smart/TNT). Concerned individuals may also reach out through the PCSDS Facebook page for further assistance or inquiries. Together, let’s contribute to the conservation efforts and protection of our precious wildlife.
