๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐: Three (3) Sunda box turtles (Cuora cf. couro) were turned over to the custody of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) by Mr. Maphilindo Lao of Barangay San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Mr. Lao found the turtles within the premises of their backyard on February 6, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. He said that after typhoon Odette, a number of turtles and mudfish could be seen within his property since their area was always filled with water.
The identified turtles are two adult females and one sub-adult male and are listed as โEndangered Speciesโ under PCSD Resolution No. 23-967 (unpubl.). It is scheduled to be released back into its natural habitat.
The PCSDS encourages fellow citizens who happen to encounter any live wildlife to leave them alone in their natural habitat.
