The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) took a significant step towards transparency and inclusivity on April 27, by live-streaming its 301st Regular Meeting on Facebook.

This was the first time in the era of online technology that the public could witness the proceedings, demonstrating the PCSD’s commitment to public engagement.

The activity was unanimously supported by the members of the Council.

During the live-streamed meeting, PCSD Chair Hon. Victorino Dennis M. Socrates highlighted the importance of involving people in government undertakings. This development was deemed as β€œhistoric” innovation drawing public participation and involvement in the Council’s deliberations. It thus enables the public to listen and be in-the-know of the meeting’s agenda and its over-all proceedings.

β€œThis [Facebook live-streaming] is the first time since 1992 when PCSD came into existence. Congratulations to Acting Executive Director Nino Rey Estoya for making it happen,” PCSD Chair Socrates stated.
