On April 19-21, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD-Calamian) participated and shared its technical inputs of the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) during the deliberations for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP)-7 Project Concept Preparation Workshop, held at the Coron Westown Hotel, Coron, Palawan.
To ensure that the framers of the GEF SGP-7 adhere to proscriptions and provisions of SEP Law and other-relevant laws in Palawan, the PCSDS DMD-Calamian deliberated on mandates and roles of PCSD, and the Republic Act No. 9147 or the SEP Law.
It was attended by representatives from Non-Government Organizations (NGO),; Civil Society Organizations; and Peopleโs Organizations,; Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),; National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP),; Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Community Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-CENRO),; DENR-Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB),; and the DENR- Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service (FASPS).
The objective of GEF SGP-7 is to foster socio-ecological resilience and promote sustainable development in the Eastern Seaboard of the Philippines through the implementation of a landscape approach that involves multi-stakeholder and community-based interventions.The GEF SGP-7 organization has identified the Calamian Group of Islands (Culion, Coron, Busuanga, and Linapacan) as the beneficiary of these efforts.
The event was facilitated by the Project Management Unit of the SGP-7, a project of the Global Environment Facility with United Nations Development Programme, Foundation of the Philippine Environment, and the DENR.
