𝐏𝐂𝐒𝐃𝐒 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 (𝟏) 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐭

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏𝟕 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 – A Radyo Bandera personnel reported to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) that a concerned citizen surrendered an adult Blue-Naped Parrot (𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴). That said wildlife locally known as “Pikoy” was chanced upon resting along Burgos St., Bgy. Magkakaibigan in the afternoon of January 16, 2024.

The Wildlife Enforcement Officer – Wildlife Rescue Team (WEO-WRT) immediately proceeded to Radyo Bandera to collect the said wildlife and placed it under the custody of our partner agency, the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC), where the resident veterinarian will attend for its proper care and/or disposition.

The Blue-Naped Parrot is listed as Critically Endangered according to the PCSD Resolution No. 15-521’s Updated List of Threatened Terrestrial and Marine Wildlife in Palawan and their Categories. The PCSDS encourages fellow citizens who happen to encounter any live wildlife to leave them alone in their natural habitat.
