As part of their commitment to provide technical and practical training to the PCSD in addressing wildlife trafficking, illegal logging, and other environmental crimes in Palawan, refresher-training courses on crime scene investigation, evidence collection and investigative report writing were given. Participants formed into groups to investigate crime scenes for environmental crimes committed, namely violations of Chainsaw Act (RA 9175) in relation to (Forestry Code)PD 705, as amended, the E-NIPAS Law, and Cavesโ Law (RA 9072).
During the workshopโs simulation activity, WEOs, WTMOs, and the Legal Services Section responded to environmental crimes and gathered evidence in preparation for inquest proceedings. The outputs of these practical exercises were reported and discussed. Participants then had break-out sessions to identify and prioritize different objectives of the Legal Services and Enforcement Section. This will be spread out for the duration of the project for a strengthened PCSDS WEOs, WTMOs and Legal Services Section.
