𝐏𝐂𝐒𝐃𝐒 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨-𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

July 31, 2024, Quezon, Palawan – The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) – District Management Division South received a bicycle parking rack from the office of the municipal mayor. This was done through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).

This initiative is related to Quezon Municipal Ordinance No. 2021-234 promoting the use of bicycles in the municipality. Furthermore, it encourages proper exercise and a more eco-friendly approach to transportation. The ordinance also supports Republic Act 8749, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) identified cycling as one of the solutions to promote sustainability. Recent studies also show that compared to vehicles, cycling reduces individuals’ transport-related carbon emissions.
