On April 25, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)-North took part in a consultative meeting to discuss the proposed construction of a P40-M seaweed farming and storage facility in Roxas, Palawan.
The project, which will be funded by Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), aims to provide economic livelihood resources for the fisherfolk of Bgy. Tumarbong and Bgy. Taradungan through training and farming of seaweed. This initiative also includes the establishment of the first-ever seaweed storage facility in the municipality to support the preservation of the produce and enhance its marketability.
Representatives from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Roxas, Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (MFARMC), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (BFARMC), and Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) attended the meeting, which was held at the Municipal Mayor’s Conference Room.
The Project will commence in July 2023 and conclude in August 2023.
